Background: The International Bar Association Section on Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Law (SEERIL) and its Academic Advisory Group (AAG) are delighted to announce that SEERIL is to award scholarships and research grants to students wishing to pursue advanced studies in energy and natural resources law.
Aim: The aim of SEERIL and its committees is to advance the development and understanding of the law affecting oil and gas, mining, power, water, international construction projects and environmental, health and safety law. The AAG is a distinctive feature of SEERIL, the aims of which are to establish and maintain contact with academics throughout the world and to arrange for the exchange of information on courses of study at all levels and to find opportunities for the secondment by way of exchange of academics and students.
This scholarship, for an amount of up to 18,000 GBP, will consider studies that may involve a masters, PhD or post-doctoral research project. Research grants may be made to doctoral or post-doctoral students to enable further research on an important topic. It is recognised that there are considerable differences between education programmes around the world and the committee is dedicated to ensuring that all possibilities for graduate and post graduate studies in energy and natural resources law are eligible. Applications will be received from students graduating from, or accepted for study at, a qualifying academic institution.
The IBA therefore invites interested students (or institutions) to apply for a scholarship. All applications received by the deadline of midnight British Summer Time (BST) on Sunday 25 March 2018 will be submitted to the Scholarship Committee. Each candidate must meet the requirements set out in the criteria overleaf.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
1. The SEERIL Scholarship for Energy and Natural Resources Law Studies is open to all qualifying academic institutions and their students free of charge. There is no requirement for the IBA member of the faculty to be involved in the teaching or supervision of the applicant.
2. Students may only submit one application. Employees of the IBA or officers of any IBA committee are excluded from entering. Previous winners of the SEERIL Studies Scholarship are also excluded from entering.
3.
